Although The Dangerous Dogs Act applies to all dogs, no matter the breed. Under The Act, it's illegal for a dog to be ' out of control' or to bite or attack someone. The legislation also makes it an offence if a person is worried or afraid the term is 'reasonable apprehension' that a dog may bite them, meaning that it is a owner's responsibility to keep their dog under control. This also includes the Grooming Salon.
*Dirty Paws Ltd 'T&C's state we will not groom any dog on this list or a cross thereof. The T&C's also state the the grooming team have the right to cancel a groom if it would affect the pets welfare to continue or there is a risk of injury to the grooming team. ' This means that if we feel that we cannot groom a dog safely, we have the right to cancel the groom, whether its a Chihuahua or a banned breed.
In addition we have also excluded a few breeds we deem to have ' at risk traits ' ( behaviour, size and strength).
- Shar Pei
- Chow Chow
- Shepherds ( German, Belgian, Swiss, Caucasian, Malinois.)
- Bullies ( XL, Standard, pocket. )
These breeds are NOT on The Dangerous Dogs Act list , so we will be happy to except them with the understanding that they start their grooming needs from young puppies (2 weeks after fully vaccinated) so they can be trained for grooming . This policy has been implemented due to past experiences with these breed types.
